Today there's no intrigue: this is a sprinters' stage. While Thor Hushovd will likely cruise into the Green Jersey, he'll have a lot more company in the final KM, particularly guys like McEwen and Cavendish who've missed the sprints so far. Dunno about twists and turns, but the last 5km are board-flat, as is much of the rest of the course.
Meanwhile, it's looking like Alejandro Valverde might hold onto yellow for a while. He seemed a lot more interested in retaining the jersey Sunday than I'd have expected. The fact that he was in the mix for the stage win... well, when the field stretches out on a climb, being up front is the smart move, at least. Anyway, the no-prologue thing seems to have been devised to spread around the maillot jaune for the first week, but thanks to Valverde's extra little gap yesterday, it looks like it could become the exclusive property of the Green Bullet -- almost persona non grata at last year's Tour -- and Fabian Cancellara, the guy whose dominance of the prologue caused them to cancel it. I think that might actually count as irony. Anyway, as ever, enjoy!
