"There were maybe five in front of me and then one rider attacked from the left side and he was taking a few meters, I go behind him and then I was thinking it's too early but I was waiting for the guys behind me to come to the left but no one came and I was going 'yes, I'm going to win'." said Boy van Poppel, who won Friday's stage 5.

Boy Van Poppel celebrated Friday's stage win. The overall general classification remained unchanged with Christian Vandevelde of Team Garmin leading Michael Rodgers of Team Columbia by 18 seconds and Symmetrics's Svein Tuft by 48 seconds. Romain Kreuziger of Team Liguigas hold the best young rider's jersey, while Dominique Rollin of Toyota-United is the KOM.
