Per VN, Lance Armstrong announced at Interbike today that he plans to race the 2009 Amgen Tour of California next February.
I'm not sure there's much to say about Lance that hasn't been said in yesterday's Astana comeback post. But I'll add: his presence at the ToC will result in a complete circus, so book your hotels sooner rather than later. It also will raise the profile of the otherwise-already-successful race, in the first year of its partnership with Tour de France owners ASO. This is neither Earth-shattering or even surprising; just merely part of the smooth re-integration of Armstrong back into all levels of the sport, on the road and in the boardrooms. There's nothing approaching consensus on whether his comeback will benefit Cycling on the road, but I guarantee you Lance will be giving the sport's bottom line a HUGE boost. In the short term, at least.
