Franco-Belge: Farrar First

Back to the road... Tyler Farrar, the Wenatchee Wonder, scored his ninth win of the season by taking the opening stage of the Circuit Franco Belge, outkicking Danilo Napolitano and Tom Boonen, among others for the sprint win. Sadly, Columbia aren't there, instead revisiting their German heritage with Saturday's Munsterland Giro on tap instead. So the battle of Greipel vs Farrar will likely have to wait, all the way until the Ave du Grammont. Incidentally, Greipel leads Farrar 3-2 this year in head-to-head sprints, but two things... only twice have both been in the top five (Greipel 2-0), which takes the starch out of the head2head thing. And each has one win: Greipel a stage of the Vuelta, Farrar the Vattenfall Cyclassic. Advantage Farrar.
