Ballan Coming Back!

I know that a lot of people are really depressed today about the murder of Girbecco, and coming on the heels of the end of the Giro we could all use some good news. And here it is: Alessandro Ballan is back! The World Champion will take the start of the Memorial Marco Pantani Saturday in Emilia-Romagna, a nasty little course from Cesena to Cesenatico that takes in the 300-meter climb of Montevecchio three times before descending toward the Adriatic. Lampre DS Fabrizio Bontempi (such an awesome name) is downplaying Ballan's form 84 days after his last race, after a battle with cytomegalovirus. But Ballan will be sporting the arc-en-ciel again, and will likely be seen at the Tour de Suisse in preparation for the Tour de France. I am no longer able to speak on the subject of his missing the spring... I can't say it. Anyway, it's nice to have him back.
