Tour de France Stage 9: Post Stage Thread

New, comments

Tour-post-stage-sm_mediumStrange to see a two-man break stay away in front of a massive peloton... on the day they go over the Tourmalet. But this has been the story of the Pyrenees this year: deferred drama. Riders make the race, they say, and not surprisingly they would rather make the race in the Alps. Also not surprising is Astana's passive role in today's collective tactics, given their interest in not defending yellow over the flat roads of the north this week. Great ride by the two breakers, Franco Pellizotti and Pierrick Fedrigo... with the classics winner getting the job done over the Giro dude (who looks a lot like Ferris Bueller's sister). Result:

  1. Pierrick Fedrigo, Bbox Bweeg
  2. Franco Pellizotti, Liquigas, s.t.
  3. Oscar Freire, Rabobank, at 0.34
  4. Serguei Ivanov, Katusha, s.t.
  5. Peter Velits, Milram, s.t.

No change in GC: Nocentini; Bert at 0.06; Lance at 0.08.
