Sierra de la Pantera: Post-Stage Thread

Vuelta-post_mediumLovely day out on the road, as a number of riders acted like today was their last chance. Damiano Cunego seized his last chance for a spot of glory with a solo stage win. Ivan Basso and Robert Gesink put the hammer down as if today was their last chance to move up (which it was). Alejandro Valverde clawed his way back desperately as if today was the day he could seal the deal, which it might have been. About the only truly intriguing character left is Samuel Sanchez, who sports the time trial mojo plus some history on this week's final climbs (and descents) to make things interesting. Otherwise, it's nearly over. Results:
