Giro d'Italia Teams Announced

Teams for the 2010 edition of the Giro d'Italia were announced in Italy today.  Missing from the list as expected are Radio Shack and the team of the "quarantined" rider Ricardo Ricco, Ceramica Flaminia.  There are some others left off the list that may be mild surprises for instance Vacansoleil and Skil-Shimano while the race is starting in the Netherlands.  The left out list also includes the "Neon Knights" of ISD-Neri, FDJ and Euskatel-Euskadie.  It's kind of hard to digest all this information and there is more (Cofidis invited).  CyclingNews has the story and the list of invited teams is below.

AG2R-La Mondiale
Astana
Caisse d'Epargne
Footon-Servetto
Garmin-Transitions
HTC-Columbia
Katusha
Lampre Farnese Vini
Liquigas-Doimo
Milram
Omega Pharma-Lotto
Quick Step
Rabobank
Saxo Bank
Team Sky

Professional Continental

Acqua & Sapone
Androni-Diquigiovanni
Bbox Bouygues Telecom
BMC Racing
Cervelo
Cofidis-Le Credit en Ligne
Colnago-CSF Inox

One more thought, this list includes 22 teams.  Even with 22 teams some deserving teams got left out, imagine the disappointment when ASO announces the Tour selections.

Update -Angelo Zomegnan spoke with the Gazzetta dello Sport where he justifies his picks in eight questions and answers, CyclingNews has a story.  One thing that should have been obvious to all of us is that Cofidis and BBox both got automatic invites because of the agree made in 2008 between GT organizers and the UCI.
