Transfers! Noemi Cantele to Italian Team, Be Pink

New, comments

Slowly, but surely, the former riders from the dissolved Garmin-Cervélo women's teams are finding new contracts. On Tuesday, Iris Slappendel attended the Rabobank team presentation, confirming her 2012 destination. Today comes the news from that Italian national champion Noemi Cantele will ride for the Italian team Be Pink. The team is the latest project of experienced sports director Walter Zini. Sadly, Tuttobici did not give us the full roster in today's story, but did confirm that fourteen riders will comprise the team.

In the press release announcing her new team, Cantele named the London Olympics as her primary goal for the 2012 season and declared "great satisfaction" to be returning to an Italian team after several seasons abroad. Zini, meanwhile, called Cantele "a grande atleta" and a "complete rider." Cantele is the current Italian national champion and she has also won the Italian time trial championship, silver and bronze medals at the Mendrisio Worlds, and the overall at the Giro Internazionale della Toscan.
