Teutenberg takes Ronde van Gelderland

Finishing an intense two-week block of racing in Holland, Ina Yoko Teutenberg today won the 140 km Ronde van Gelderland. She beat Kirsten Wild and Rochelle Gilmore to take her third win of the year. A strong group of Amber Neben,  Loes Gunnewijk, Tatiana Guderzo, Chantal Blaak and Natalia Boyarskaya were away for much of the day but never got that much of a gap and the race eventually ended up in a sprint.

Meanwhile in Belgium the 118 km Halle/Buizingen made up the third round of the Lotto Cycling Cup. The field here was considerably weaker with almost all but the belgian teams focusing on Gelderland.  Martine Bras took her first victory of the year,  adding some victory glamour to what has already been a very solid start to her season.

Now the women move on to the fourth round of the World Cup already on on Wednesday as they tackle the Fleche Wallóne just as the men do. Sadly it will be without the overwhelming favorite Emma Pooley as she suffered a broken collarbone in training. Without her the race appears wide open and Annemiek van Vleuten will be under heavy pressure as she defends her WC leader's jersey.
