Even the flat stages have climbing at the Tour de Suisse. Here is @MarkCavendish after today's stage:
Phew! Over 2000m total elevation on today's flat stage! 2hard finish laps. Gave 1st lap a crack, & knew I couldn't make the next, so sat up.
The stage finished on a circuit and it was an uphill drag to the line. World Champion Thor Hushovd of Garmin-Cervélo took his first victory in the Rainbow Jersey. Yesterday's winner and current points leader Peter Sagan of Liquigas-Cannondale finished second. Apparently, he doesn't win every day, just most of them. Damiano Cunego of Lampre-ISD continues to lead the general by :54 over Juan Mauricio Soler of Movistar. Here are your current overall standings. If anyone finds the stage results on the official race site, do let me know. They seem to be hiding.
Tomorrow's stage looks bumpy, but not mountainous. It looks good for the sprinters, but only if they can climb a bit. Because there is no flat in Switzerland.
