Thomas de Gendt continued his string of success in Paris-Nice with a win from a long breakaway. Coming solo into Nice after having dropped his breakaway companion Rein Taaramae he had plenty of time to celebrate his first win of the season. The peloton was led home by John Degenkolb some 9 minutes behind. Brad Wiggins stays in the overall lead. The big loser of the day was Levi Leipheimer who crashed multiple times, the last crash coming as he and his OPQS team were chasing to reconnect with the peloton. Leipheimer limped in seven minutes behind the other GC leaders.
