BMC rider Johann Tschopp owns the overall lead at the Larry H Miller Tour of Utah. A solo attack on the lower ramps of Little Cottonwood Canyon leading to Snowbird Winter and Summer Resort lofted the Swiss rider from 14th overall to race leadership. Tschopp countered when an earlier solo move by Jesse Anthony of Optum/KBS out of a ten man group that formed on the climb up Suncrest, was caught at the base of the penultimate climb. Team NetApp’s Leopold Koenig finished second, 43 seconds behind Tschopp. American Joe Dombrowski of Bontrager Livestrong placed third, just 47 seconds back.
Christian Vande Velde slips to second on GC at 38" behind Tschopp while RadioShack-Nissan-Trek’s Matthew Busche occupies the third position. Ben Jacques-Maynes, Bissell Pro Cycling is the current Ski Utah King of the mountains. Dombrowski laid claim to the Subaru Best Young Rider Jersey. Fransico Mancebo (Competitive Cyclist) is the current Exergy Group most aggressive rider. Jeff Louder, of BMC Racing Team, retained his Miller Lite Best Utah Rider jersey after spending most of the day in the breakaway. Rabobank’s Michael Matthews (Australia) remains in the XO Communications Sprint Leader jersey.
