Cobbles Credentials: Sure does seem like he should have better cred and stil it seems like he should be adding to said cred every year but...so far he's got a Brabantse Pijl scalp in 2011, a couple of Omloop Het Niewsblads in 2006 & 2008, a 1st at Le Samyn in 2007 and that's it. Of course there are those Ardennes races too but those aren't specifically part of what we are talking about here. Other podiums he's snagged: 2006: 2nd at Le Samyn; 2007: 2nd at Brabantse Pijl, 2009: 3rd at Flanders; 2010: 3rd at both Gent-Wevelgem and Flanders.
DId you know? He's never entered Paris-Roubaix. And he's a #2 seed? Oooohhhhhhhh.....
Gert Steegmans
Cobbles Credentials: All-around lead-out and nice guy during his hey-day, Gert has picked up the occasional minor win but his main claim to fame is guiding Tom Boonen around the mean streets of Flanders . (And to be fair he did a nice job in his formative years helping Robbie McEwen.)
Did you now? Besides his win on the Champs in 2008, his cobbles wins and podiums include: 2006: 3rd at Scheldeprijs; 2007: 1st on stage 1 of the Three days of de Panne plus 3rd at Scheldeprijs again; 2011: 1st at Nokere-Koerse.
