The 2013 Redlands Bicycle Classic continued today in the City of Beaumont, California for a 72.3-mile circuit race.
The peloton was active with small breaks here and there. It got especially exciting in the last lap when a break got away and wasn't caught until there was only 3K to go.
A couple brave riders broke off the front to avoid a mass sprint finish and Alison Powers (NOW and Novartis), in the yellow jersey, took the win ahead of Joanna Kiesanowski(Tibco).
Kiesanowski protested the finish but the win still went to Powers.
Brianna Walle (Optum) came in third to complete the podium.
The third stage will take place in downtown Redlands Saturday afternoon, where the women will duke it out in a 60-minute criterium.
