Yesterday Romain Bardet won the Tour de l'Ain - the first victory of the twenty-two year old's young pro career.
On the final climb of Tuesday's Queen stage Bardet was one of four to first reach the summit of the hors categorie Grand Colombier. But at the bottom of the technical descent only Bardet and Wouter Poels remained in front. Working well together they held their lead, with Poels taking the stage, and Bardet taking the Tour.
Luis Leon Sanchez finished 2nd in the GC, 1'13" behind Bardet. John Gadret finished 3rd, 1'15" behind.
