It was a predictable first roadstage in the Vuelta. The organizers wanted a big sprint and they got it. Bouhanni looks like the fastest man in this field and he won. In a fairly straightforward sprint Team FDJ did well to get Bouhanni to the front on the small rise at about 1000m to to and he had a teammate in front of him in the fast slight downhill final few hundred meters. Once he launched his final assault at about 200 m to go he was virtually unopposed and could even afford to sit up and celebrate on the line.
