With one week till worlds, time's running out to complete pre-flight checks. Both the men's and women's classifications are technically up for grabs. Current conditions are muddy, there's not a whole lot of grass around. The Under-23 race was won by Quinten Hermans.
Map:
Tried and tested course, not a huge amount to talk about. Mud.
The current standings are more interesting.
1. | Wout Van Aert | 406 |
2. | Lars van der Haar | 385 |
3. | Kevin Pauwels | 356 |
4. | Sven Nys | 351 |
5. | Mathieu van der Poel | 305 |
Van der Poel has broken into the top five, impressively, considering he missed the first two races. The fights here is for the win though, and it's between Van der Haar and Van Aert. Van der Haar has to win, and Van Aert can't finish in the top five for the standings to change. This is unlikely, as Van Aert has only finished sixth or worse twice this season.
1. | Sanne Cant | 282 |
2. | Eva Lechner | 250 |
3. | Ellen Van Loy | 205 |
4. | Nikki Harris | 184 |
5. | Katie Compton | 173 |
Lechner's the only rider with a mathematical chance of toppling Cant. She won in Hoogerheide last year, but is unlikely to even win this year, and Cant finishing far enough behind is very unlikely.
Conor's Picks to Win
Van der Poel has consistently been a class above for the last month, he's going to shorten his odds for Zolder even more. Sanne Cant, ditto.
