Lots of nominations for this one, and I've got a blurb on them all, for your voting guide. Remember, "best race day" means whatever the hell you think it means -- most exciting, most surprising, most dramatic, most confirming of how great cycling is, whatever. Feel free to debate what it should mean if you want, but ultimately everyone gets to vote their conscience.

Part 1: The One Day Races

Strade Bianche

Winner: Fabian Cancellara

Notable elements: One last win for the Swiss Bear, and in incredible style, as he survives a group of Zdenek Stybar, Peter Sagan and Gianluca Brambilla.

Video: Final 48km here. I considered embedding videos for all the races but I dunno, that might not load very cleanly.

Ronde van Vlaanderen

Winner: Peter Sagan

Notable elements: Winning alone in the rainbow jersey? That enough for ya? OK, then how about the part where he drops Cancellara and goes solo?

Video: Five Hours of Video Here!

Paris-Roubaix

Winner: Matt Hayman

Notable elements: Boonen on the warpath, but falls just short of historic win. Hayman a deserving first time winner. Lots of thrills and spills, as always.

Video: All six hours!!

Milano-Torino

Winner: Miguel Angel Lopez

Notable elements: Tactical battle with Michael Woods, tons of action during and after the final climb of the Superga.

Video: Last hour plus!

Il Lombardia

Winner: Esteban Chaves

Notable elements: Small groups fighting all the way to the finish, but it's Chaves who survives for a stunning win

Video: Last 63 km!

Olympic Road Race

Winner: Greg Van Avermaet

Notable elements: Thrilling chase of Rafal Majka who survived from a three-man break on the Vista Chinesa, but saw Vincenzo Nibali and Sergio Henao dramatically crash out. Van Avermaet with the three-up sprint win.

Part 2: The Stage Races

Paris-Nice Stage 7

Winner: Tim Wellens

Notable elements: Alberto Contador attacks, reeled in by Sky, then attacks again on the final climb. Geraint Thomas is left behind as Contador becomes the overall leader on the road, but picks up some assistance on the final descent and recovers enough of his gap to hang on and win the race by four seconds.

Giro d'Italia Stage 14

Winner: Esteban Chaves

Notable elements: Queen stage in the Dolomites, Steven Kruijswijk takes over race lead, Astana back on their heels

Video: Full stage epic battle!

Giro d'Italia Stage 19

Winner: Vincenzo Nibali

Notable elements: Leader Kruijswijk crashes into a snowbank, and suddenly his impregnable lead over the race comes crumbling down. Nibali is poised to take advantage, though for the time being it's Esteban Chaves into the race lead.

Vuelta a Espana Stage 15

Winner: Gianluca Brabilla

Notable elements: Italian wins from the break, again! But more importantly, Quintana and Contador team up to crack Chris Froome.

Stage 8: Froome Goes Downhill

Winner: Chris Froome

Notable elements: First mountain stage seems uneventful until a moment's inattention by Nairo Quintana sees Froome attack and steal precious time on the descent!

Stage 11: Crosswind Madness

Winner: Peter Sagan

Notable elements: With 15km to go, Cancellara drives a split and Froome, again, alertly takes advantage. Sagan wins the exciting finale while Froome risks it all for more time.

Stage 12: Windy Mountain Running Man

Winner: Thomas De Gendt

Notable elements: Your WTF? stage of the Tour, where Froome and the leading trio are felled by a moto, and Froome is temporarily left running up Mont Ventoux without a bike.

Video: Recap

Stage 19: Bardet Bust-Out

Winner: Romain Bardet

Notable elements: It's a slippery stage to Mont Blanc, but while many about are losing their heads, Bardet keeps his and bangs out a brilliant solo win.
