Transfer Bonanza 2016 Open thread

Well, August 1 is here and the transfer news come crashing in as teams and riders are allowed to make new contracts public. Consider this an open thread for all news and analysis on the greatest and the most terrible signings.

What do we know so far, only hours into the transfer window? Well mostly confirmations of stuff we pretty much already knew but there are some nuggets there too:

BORA-(Hans Grohe)

The Peter Sagan rumor was true. He goes to Bora and predictably brings with him Maciej Bodnar Michael Kolar and Erik Baska. Also brother Juraj comes along for the ride, imagine that.

Trek-Segafredo

The other big classics move is John Degenkolb moving to Trek and bringing Koen de Kort with him.  This adds further excitement to their already interesting classics lineup. Can't decide if it is a great move or if it is looking like overcrowding with similar riders?

LottoNL-Jumbo

Picking up Juan Jose Lobato from Movistar.  Not an obious move but as some have pointed out, Freire and Rabo made a good combo and Lobato is a similar type rider. (2 year contract)

Astana

More Danes is the motto as they sign Michael Valgren for the classics and Jesper Hansen for mountain support. Interestingly they keep their Italian focus by bringing on Moreno Moser and Oscar Gatto too. Making Astana look all the more like "old Liquigas"? (all 2 year contracts)
