Italian Merda Piccola Race-week LIVE

The week is filled with pretty good one-day races, most of them in Italy as we gear up for Lombardia on Saturday.

Gran Piemonte

gp

Rocca Canavese - Borgosesia 168 km

The Italians have really gone loopy with switching over the courses of these races, it's really not doing them any favors if they want us to take them seriously. This was a MTF at Oropa last year and now it's a sprinters race.

Big Pie-mounter : Giacomo Nizzolo

If we're going to get loopy we might as well start picking Nizzolo to win races too, it's only fair.

Milano - Torino

Magenta - Torino 190 km

Three cheers, we have the Superga finish back! Not the flat silliness of last year.

Super ga of the Day : Primoz Roglič

Maybe his mind is on Saturday but I don't think it matters, this should be ideal for him.

Busto Arsizio - Varese 194.5 km

If you like Toblerone you'll like this race.

Valley Man del Giorno : Benoit Cosnefroy

He's done it before and Sonny Colbrelli seems otherwise engaged this year.

Chimay-Binche 118 km / Binche - Binche 201.5km

The old beer race adds a women's race this year too and looks like there will be video.

Trappists of the Day : Christina Schweinberger & Dylan Groenewegen

All the tiny club teams are here in the women's race including the best named team in the world, "Loving Potatoes". It's not exactly WWT level though. And Cav surely can't win two in a row? I mean, he's no Jasper Philipsen.

Coppa Bernocchi

Legnano - Legnano 197.2 km

First up Coppa Bernocchi, which oddly enough has nothing at all to do with the Verdi opera "La Battaglia di Legnano" from 1849.

Arrigo del Giorno : Elia Viviani

He's done it before and Sonny Colbrelli seems otherwise engaged this year.
