The Favourites
Angliru. A chance to really take some time on rivals? Not necessarily. The last time we were here, Mcarthy took the win (he’s not in that sort of form this time round but a past winner is a past winner). The thing is he only gained 16" on Mas, Vlasov and Carapaz. Roglic and Kuss were a further 10" back. Kuss waiting and working for a Rog who was on a ‘bad’ day. So unless it’s taken on from the start to really make it a hard stage, it’s unlikely the race will be won today. The stage goes up from the start but it’s more false flat. The first cat 1 comes after 66k so it could be a long fight for the break. Dots will still be in play so it will be surprising if it’s not a strong break. Whether someone can go all the way is doubtful though. At some point UAE will want to try something. I’ve now idea how stage 16 has played out but assuming UAE aren’t aggressive today and Almeida shows that he’s recovered, Agrilru is the place to do it. I therefore think the break will come back and we’ll get a GC day.
Kuss will be hoping he doesn’t crack. Roglic will be hoping he doesn’t crack and Kuss does. Ayuso and Mas will be hoping all of Jumbo crack. Vingegaard however will just be figuring out how he can get away with attacking off the front solo and pretending he was covering moves to protect Kuss…
This looks like a day for Vingegaard. If anyone is able to break the Jumbo hegemony then I’ll tip Ayuso with Mas second best. It’s really hard to see anything but the best on GC filling the top ten.

The strict entry deadline is the official start time of the race, the neutralized roll-out or Départ Fictif. Be warned - if your post is timestamped one minute late your entry won't count! So do remember that there's no disadvantage to getting an entry in early, even the day before, because you may always change your picks up until the deadline. Feel free to rethink your picks when it emerges which riders are more or less popular with other players. If you make changes, post your revised 4 picks in a reply to your original post.

The last 3 races will be secret entry between the top contenders… To avoid defensive picking.
When we say top contenders we leave the number open because who knows how many will be within striking distance...
